On Monday, December 9, 2024, we arrived at the Gymnázium J.V.Jirsíka. We were welcomed by students and teachers with ice-breaking activities and traditional songs. The students and teachers showed us the school and its surroundings. Each school had presentations about its country and its traditions. This was followed by a guided tour of České Budějovice. We visited the municipal library, the Black Tower, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, the Church of the Sacrifice of the Virgin Mary and the main square with the Samson Fountain.
On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, we visited Český Krumlov, a small town in the South Bohemian region, known for its historic Gothic architecture and the Krumlov Castle, one of the largest in Bohemia. The town’s stone houses, clustered around the Vltava River, have preserved the medieval and Renaissance appearance of the city, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. We then visited the Siedel Photography Museum and, after learning about his work and life, we dressed in period costumes and took a retro photo.
On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, we visited Prague. First, we visited The New Stage Theater where we watched the play “In our Hands”. Then we toured the historic center and visited the Charles Bridge and the Astronomical Clock. In the afternoon we returned to České Budějovice.
On Thursday, December 12, 2024, we visited the town of Hluboká nad Vltavou, where we met with the Mayor of the town, who informed us about the area. Then we took a tour of Hluboká Castle. The day ended with a traditional Czech farewell dinner in České Budějovice.
On Friday, December 13, 2024, we visited Alšova jihočeská galerie. Then we went to school. The students participated in activities and art workshops and together they designed and made the program logo. At the end of the day, certificates of participation were awarded at the farewell ceremony.
